What’s Happening in Peterborough This Weekend

Hey friends! Can you believe it’s already Labour Day week? Summer always seems to fly by faster than the last few weeks of August, and this one’s no exception. Whether you’re chasing one more outdoor adventure or looking for something low-key to do over the long weekend, I’ve got a few local picks for you this week.

Here’s what’s happening around Peterborough (and just outside it) this weekend:

Peterborough Regional Farmers’ Market — Saturday, September 5
7:30 am–1:00 pm | AON Citi Centre Courtyard, 245 Charlotte St, Peterborough | Free to browse
A downtown Saturday staple, and one more chance to stock up on peak-season produce before things start shifting toward fall. Great excuse for a morning walk downtown, coffee in hand.

Mountain Bike Ride — Saturday, September 5
10:00 am | Harold Town Conservation Area, 2611 Old Norwood Rd, Peterborough
Calling all intermediate-to-advanced riders: join a group ride through 17–22 km of trail at Harold Town. Bring a chair, snacks, and something to drink for after, because you’ve earned it. A great way to get one more big ride in before the weather turns.

Voyageur Canoe Tour — Sunday, September 6
11:30 am | The Canadian Canoe Museum, Peterborough
Paddle out from the docks in a big multi-person voyageur canoe with a crew of fellow visitors and a guide from the Museum. It’s about 90 minutes on the Otonabee River and Trent-Severn Canal system, no experience needed. Such a fun, easy way to see the city from the water.

Live Music by Taylor — Sunday, September 6
12:00 pm | Silver Bean Cafe, 130 King St, Peterborough
Taylor Abrahamse wraps up her run of casual Sunday afternoon sets by the water with one more show at the Silver Bean. Grab a coffee, find a patio seat, and enjoy some easy live music before the long weekend winds down.

Walk with Bhante Bo — Sunday, September 6
10:00 am–12:00 pm & 3:00–5:00 pm | Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden, 708 Ski Hill Rd, Omemee | Free
A guided walking tour through the Buddhist garden, touching on the traditions and sacred spaces along the way. Two time slots to choose from, so it’s easy to work into your long weekend plans. A really peaceful way to close things out before Monday’s holiday.
